The annual Got a Trade? Got it Made! trades career promotion looked a little different this year with Competenz running successful standalone marketing activity, while the combined ITO campaign was paused due to the Reform of Vocational Education.

Aimed at promoting the trades as an aspirational career to young people and introducing them to the idea of an apprenticeship, the Competenz campaign saw paid media advertising across many channels from 08 September to 08 December.

Digital display banners, native, video, static newsfeed posts and cube (interactive digital) adverts were placed across Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Social, MediaWorks, Flava, Stuff and Google search. Static and digital adshels, bus shelter posters and wall billstickers appeared throughout South Auckland and radio ads played on MaiFM, Flava, ZM, PMN 531 Tonga and PMN 531 Samoa.

During the three months of the 2019 campaign:

  • More than 1.5 million people saw our trades career advertising on a digital platform.

  • Tens of thousands of people saw our posters and adshels and heard our radio advertising.

  • More than 10,000 people visited the Competenz Got a Trade?  Got it Made! campaign website to learn more about trades careers.
